So much to do....so little time to do it

Another Wednesday has come and gone. I normally try to stay up later on Tuesday nights to get a few things done in order to take advantage of having the day off on Wednesdays and sleep in. Well I definitely stayed up late last night, but I don't feel like I was productive. I remember going to sleep around 130am and thinking what did I just do for two hours? Of course, today was equally as unproductive because I woke up with a headache again! When I wake up feeling like poop, all I want to do is go back to sleep...so that's exactly what I did...for 3 more hours!!! I finally drug myself out of bed around noon, took a shower, and got on with my day...so much for a productive Wednesday:(

I had a really good conversation with a friend who has been on the TTC train for longer than I have. She told me about an acupuncturist that she was seeing...and I'm thinking I might like to give that a try. I mean really, what have I got to lose? After last weeks disappointing follicle scan, I have an appointment scheduled with a fertility specialist at the end of next week. I know my infertility issues are medical, so I'm curious what the doctors have to say...but I do think it's odd that my mom finds an article about acupuncture helping PCOS and my friend talks to me about it all in the same week. Maybe someones trying to tell me something, hmm? I'm not about to jump on the bandwagon or anything...gotta do some research and all that jazz. I'm just saying, I'm not opposed to some alternative medicine.

Follicle Scan

I have an appointment tomorrow to take a look see how my body is reacting to the clomid. Of course I'm hoping for some good news, but not expecting it. I figure a few different scenarios could play out...

1. I could actually have a dominant follicle...which means this cycle could actually work. One step closer to being pg.

2. I could not have a dominant follicle and just have a bunch of random cysts lying around...meaning clomid did not work. I'm assuming if this is the case, we'll be referred to a fertility specialist. Who knows what tests they will want to run or how long it will all take to get going...but again, one step closer to being pg.

Or my favorite option (and the most unlikely one) 3. The clomid worked and I already ovulated 3 days ago, just like fertility friend is telling me. I was so shocked to chart today and see CHs...seriously?!? on cd9?!? I will say my temps have been unusually high, but I'm not going to count my chickens before my eggs are hatched. Wouldn't that be a story though?

Any way you look at it, whatever the outcome...we're one step closer. Just gotta keep repeating that to myself.

I heart my Dynamics family!

This weekend, the team is putting on a huge garage sale to raise funds for nationals next summer in Anaheim. I found out tonight that todays sales alone raised over $1500!!! We had a BBQ tonight at my house...sort of a getting to know you function, but I've also been dying to have people over to our house for a VERY long time and this was the perfect opportunity to do it. I fall deeper in love with my girls, the team, their parents, everyone, each time we do big events like tonight and this weekend. We had so much food in the house, I stuffed myself silly (hello free day on the nutrition program!). We had probably 60 people over at one time...Eric was manning the grill...it was just awesome! We were able to watch a video from this past June's show...and then the girls wanted to watch the very first year's show (and then the 2nd year, 3rd year, etc). It makes me tear up to watch our then little ones turn into the now advanced dancers...look how far they've come, how far we've come. I cannot believe how much this team has evolved, and how different we are now compared to back then...yet how much we are the same. It is truly amazing and something I can't really describe...I just know that I am so blessed to have such an extended family. They are what really matters.

...I was celebrating with family and friends on our wedding night. I can't believe how fast two years has gone by. Eric and I celebrated throughout this weekend for both his birthday and our wedding anniversary. Friday night was a free night from eating healthy...pizza and beer. Eric was in heaven! Saturday night we went to sea bright brewery...I think Eric almost cried when we started eating because he missed the place so much. Last night we went to the mountain winery to see The Goo Goo Dolls with Parachte and Michelle Branch. The concert was amazing and it was great to eat a special gourmet meal overlooking the valley at their chateau deck dining area.

On the TTC home front...BFN here. I'm disappointed as expected, but not as bad as I thought I'd be. Emailed the doc already...I am to take provera again and then we'll try 150 mg of clomid with an ultrasound on cd13 to see how I'm responding. I already had the provera, so I started taking it tonight. Keep your fingers crossed my body decides to work this cycle.

5 pounds down!

That's right...I lost 5 pounds and 5 1/2 inches doing the challenge that I mentioned in my previous post. Eric lost 9 pounds and 6 inches (damn him!). We're feeling really good and are going to continue to eat healthy to get in better shape. I think we're shooting to do a 90 day commitment to the vitamins and supplements to see how much more we can easily lose.

I've had a very nerve racking week. Monday I was so frustrated with my body not working correctly, I emailed my doc. Her response was opks are not the only thing to consider with this sort of thing and to wait a week and report back this Monday. I just happen to glance at my chart after that and was surprised to see a pattern of high temps...just slightly screwed up by a few high temps mixed in with all the previous low ones. So, it is possible that this cycle might have actually worked. Although, does FF agree with what I see? Apparently not because I still do not have any crosshairs...even after 10 days of high temps that would be above the cover line if they ever gave me cross hairs. I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up, but it's made me very anxious temping this week. I'm thinking these higher temps are a good sign...1. Because my temps have never been so consistent and "stable". 2. Because eventually after so many high temps, FF will HAVE to give me CHs and there's a good possibility that I'm pg. And 3. Even if I'm not pg, it could mean that my body is finally working correctly which means we're even closer to becoming pg.

The waiting game has been killing me. I refuse to test before FF gives me CHs, because I'd rather be conservatively negative until I have a reason to be positive. Either way I have to test on Monday so I can report back to my doc...but that's still 3 days away.

Month 8

It is now officially the middle of August...I don't know where this year went! Eric and I have done a lot of traveling this year, which I'm sure hasn't helped the whole rushing time thing. We just got back from a family trip to Minnesota with my mom and brother and his family. One of my cousins got married. It was great to see my extended family, especially because I haven't seen a lot of them since 2004, when I was there last. The wedding was beautiful and the reception was full of dancing and excellent cake!

The hardest part about the trip was that it fell right in the middle of clomid cycle #2, which means Eric and I had to get a little creative;) Unfortunately, I don't think this second cycle of clomid worked because I'm now on cd24 and still waiting for a positive opk. I'm debating on whether or not to email my doc now or wait until cd32 like I'm supposed to. It's not like there's even a chance I could be pg because I've had no temp spike and no +opk, so what harm would there be in cutting this cycle short and moving on to the next one?

In other news, a friend of mine introduced me to Advocare. Eric, my mom and I have started and are about to finish the 24 day challenge. It consisted of a 10 day cleanse (which I didn't really do all the way because I didn't want to knock out any of the meds I've been taking...so I only did the vitamin, health part of it), a free day (which we skipped to try and get better results), and a "lean in 13" program. The "lean in 13" has been hard because on burn days, you don't get to eat carbs...and carbs are my life:( We've been eating a lot of chicken and turkey burgers. Eric has really been getting into grilling meat on the BBQ. And on refuel days (when we're allowed to have carbs) you better believe I make a mean sandwich for myself and enjoy every last bite!

The challenge has been good because it's forced us to take a look at what we've been eating (junk) and how we can change it. I have not had soda in 3 weeks and I don't crave it anymore. Fruits and veggies are an every day thing for us and we've cut a lot of fatty foods out of our diet. We all feel pretty good about what we've changed and how up our energy is, and even the pounds we've lost. I'll try to post another entry in a few days with results to the challenge. I can say this for sure, my eating habits are definitely different now then they were a few weeks back. I'm looking forward to continuing to eat healthy and try to really get myself to a healthy weight. Who knows, maybe it'll even jump start my body into working right...one can hope!

4 weeks later...

Wowza! The past four weeks have seriously been a blur. The annual studio recital came and went...everything went wonderfully for the weekend. All dances went well and dancers performed beautifully. As stressful as it is to dance and be in charge at the same time, I'm going to miss it next year when I'm only the teacher backstage and not the dancer on stage.

We spent a few rehearsals preparing for nationals and off we went to Florida on July 2nd. I have to say that for our first trip to nationals, the team did very well! All three dances we competed received gold awards for adjudication, the second highest we can get. Two out of three dances received a special judge's award as special acknowledgement for the day. And our production got 8th place out of all the production and extended dances in the 13 and above age divisiion. Not too shabby! Charles and I feel like we have a hand on what we need to work on this year in order to make nationals next year even more successful. We have to represent well since it's in Anaheim after all!

A few days before we left for nationals, I started spotting. I thought by some miracle my body had started working properly and AF would come. No such luck! It was literally just annoying...enough to be inconvenient, not enough to mean anything. So here we go again on the progesterone roller coaster. I'm now on day 9 of taking it and so far so good...I've been able to control any outbursts of emotional turmoil, except for the night we flew back to Cali (that's a whole other blog entry in itself, but I'll save you the drama and novel).

So AF should show up any day now and I'm looking forward to seeing what this cycle holds...taking 100mg of clomid now. I've seen a definite difference in my temps this past cycle so I know something is working, or changing at least, with the meds. I'd like to say I'm hopeful, but I think now I'm just trying to keep my mind off everything. I feel like if I get my hopes up too much and think about it too much, it won't happen. I have to expect for things to go as they've gone and be pleasantly surprised when they do in fact finally work out.

On a completely different note, I went to see the final installment of the Harry Potter series tonight. OMG, I cannot believe the series is over! It makes ne want to cry because I love these movies so much and am going to miss seeing what happens next at Hogwarts. Guess I'll just have to keep re-reading the books...a bittersweet farewell to Harry, Ron, and Hermione!
